WiesnWriter

A lawn printing device for guerilla-gardening

The WiesnWriter is a mobile system of 12 containers arranged on a span of three meters. Each of the containers can be filled with various kinds of bulk material. The containers can be activated individually to make them dispense their load onto the ground.

For the transfer of text or images, a bitmap image is saved to the control unit. Depending on the velocity at which the WiesnWriter is moved over the ground, the latches of the containers are activated. The load is released according to the pixels of the bitmap image and makes the message appear on the ground.
One intended use is with fertilizer. Applied on a lawn low in nutrients and released with the right concentration, the growth of fresh green grass makes the image appear within several days.

Other substances that could be used instead of fertilizer are for example flower seeds or colored pigment.
